PR still doesn't get the new world

Martin Moore starts the ball rolling here, Jeff Jarvis adds his bit - here - and the ..the world's leading... adds more of the same here.

And my recent experiences are that they are bang on the money. Which is an uncomfortable point of view for someone who actually runs a PR business.

Monday morning, we'll step up our efforts to make sure that at least our own teams are being fast tracked into the new world.

This has been an expanding problem the past two years... if not the past five. The technical and social changes embracing the marketing and public relations world are devouring most agencies alive.

I found it absolutely ironic (and pain-stakingly horrifying) to have a lecture on social media and then later see a PR firm (who was an attendee) go out and claim to have expertise in the social media world.

I think we will begin seeing many firms accept the realization that one "cannot be an expert in all things" and see entirely new sub-divisions of the PR business.
