Second Life: there goes the neighbourhood

Must be getting crowded over in Second Life. No sooner had Sam Palmisano and IBM taken up residence, as described in BusinessWeek Online, than Silicon.com reports Michael Dell is joining them with his own Dell island (not sure if Michael has his own Avatar, Sam has two apparently).

For me this draws a line in the sand. Once these sort of corporates have woken up and acted upon it, just announcing a presence in Second Life is no longer enough anymore. After this point, new participants must make sure they have a good angle, or else its simple, belated, me too-ism. In these recent examples, IBM seemed to have a plausible business case.
