The end is nigh!

The WOW Report reports* that the world will end in a week, via the thisisaknife vodcast.

Strictly speaking, this is inaccurate - it's only the beginning of the end. "Overseer" Yisrayl Hawkins of the House of Yahweh has recently used the Internet as a highly effective platform to spread his message that a nuclear war will start on September 12th, eliminating one-third (give or take a few billion) of the world's population. The rest of us will apparently live to fight another day, until the real end of the world comes a year later.

The thisisaknife video report includes a phone interview with Hawkins, who displays some genuine Southern hospitality by inviting two billion of us to Abilene, Texas where God will protect us from destruction simply by virtue of our being in Texas.** This is exciting to me, because they have great barbecue and sweet tea down there.

This parody video mashes up Yisrayl Hawkins, Godzilla movies, and Monty Python, all to the music of Johnny Cash. The House of Yahweh members repeating their mantra is like the ad for HeadOn - after a while, you WILL remember that "nuclear war will begin on September 12th 2006." (Or that "The New Marketing is the greatest blog in the world.")

Thanks for the tip, Kiana!

*As is their wont.
**This is not an uncommon attitude among Texans.
