Obviously a different Jonny B...?

The Observer posted a list of the World's 50 Most Powerful Blogs.

Most lists/tables of blogs leave me a bit cold but the pen portraits here are great and prompted me to widen my reading.

Interesting thoughts:

  • How many were written/started by Brits. Setting aside that the Observer is a UK paper, I suspect Brits have a genetic sense of humour (OK, sarcasm) issue that assists 'good' blog writing.
  • Surprised that so many tech insiders got onto the list (is TechCrunch, really one of the world's most powerful blogs?).

Oh gosh - there is another JonnyB. This will cause confusion.

Thank you for the link. The list wasn't - ummmm - 'best served' by the hyperbole of the title... it appears to be just a list of interesting blogs that have been influential in a little tiny way over their own particular area of the blogosphere. So I am embarrassed to be on it in one way but chuffed in most others (of course).

But yes - the pen portraits were good. I liked the 'least likely to say's.

I never realised I had a name-doppelganger. Still the readershp of the Private Secret Diary is so different to that of my blog I doubt many people willbe confused.

Thanks for the link Steve and still enjoying reading your blog (especially its new look) - complete with Twitter feed.

I have doppelganger as well.

Forgot to check the Google unsafe search when I chose the pseudonym.

See:

Fortunately Matt and Matthew are slightly different.

Heh Matt... not so fast.

If the name Matt Wardman isn't actually your name but a pseudonym, then do you qualify as having a doppelganger? And, anyway, isn't a doppelganger someone who looks like you? (I'm wildly guessing you don't look much like Mr Gay UK)

Having the same name as someone else can be a problem in a number of circumstances http://thenewmarketing.com/blogs/steve_ellis/archive/2007/11/30/5106.aspx
