I like it when high tech gets wrapped up with the ancient.
Freight containers washed to shore from the beached MSC Napoli have posed a moral dilemma for the UK.
Local folk have asserted their 'privilege' to scavenge anything that comes to shore. The law here is ancient, obscure and confused. Depending upon your point of view they may be either beachcombing, scavenging, looting or simply stealing.
Either way, in listening to radio interviews with the scavengers, it would appear most of the booty is destined for eBay. A nice twist on an ancient custom.
eBay punters should beware sea damaged nappies, prematurely rusted BMW motorbikes and random pairs of salt stained trainers.
